Dr Shirin Dora

Senior Lecturer in Neuromorphic Computing

Shirin Dora is a Senior Lecturer in Neuromorphic Computing in the Department of Computer Science at Loughborough University. His primary area of research is algorithmic machine learning for Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) and applying these networks in energy-constrained scenarios like onboard satellites. He completed his PhD from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore on the topic of developing biologically plausible learning approaches for spiking neural networks. After his PhD, he pursued post-doctoral research in computational neuroscience at the cognitive and systems neuroscience group at the University of Amsterdam. From 2019 to 2021, he was a Lecturer of Data Analytics in the Intelligent Systems Research Centre at Ulster University in United Kingdom.
