Precision Materials Science of Functional Oxide Thin Films

The Sir Nevill Mott Lecture honours the legacy of the Nobel Prize-winning physicist and celebrates excellence in condensed matter and materials science. This year’s lecture is delivered by Prof. Judith MacManus-Driscoll FRS, a world leader in functional oxide thin films and one of the most cited materials scientists in the UK.

Early Career Researcher (ECR) Programme

NEXT-AI 2026 places early-career researchers at the heart of the event. Coordinated by Dr Luana Olivieri (Loughborough University), the ECR programme offers dedicated opportunities to present, network, and engage with leaders across academia and industry.

Early Career Activities include:
  • Career Discussion Panel (Day 1) — a moderated session exploring career paths in neuromorphic research and hardware AI, with panelists from academia, industry, and start-ups
  • ECR Flash Talks — short-format talks giving early-career researchers dedicated stage time alongside invited speakers
  • Poster Sessions (Days 1 and 2) — two dedicated poster sessions with prizes for outstanding contributions
  • Poster Prizes — awarded at the closing session on Day 3
  • Networking Reception — informal networking opportunity across all three days

A limited number of participation grants are available for PhD students and early-career researchers to support travel and/or registration costs. Indicate your interest on the registration form.
