Dr Xavier Porte Parera

Lecturer, Chancellor fellow

Xavier Porte Parera is a Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland). Since 2022, he leads the laboratory of Photonic Integrated Complex Systems (PICS) at the Institute of Photonics. His research interests cover complex light-matter dynamics, hybrid optoelectronic integration and photonic information processing. Xavier received his PhD degree in Physics from the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain) in 2015. There, he studied the nonlinear dynamics of delay-coupled semiconductor lasers with application to secure communications. From 2016 to 2018 he was postdoctoral researcher with the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) working on external optical coupling of quantum-dot microlasers for nanophotonic applications. From 2019 to 2022 he was Marie-Curie fellow at the FEMTO-ST Institute in Besançon (France) working on photonic spatiotemporal neural networks and additive manufacturing of CMOS compatible integrated photonic components.
